CARRICK READ APPOINTS 4 NEW MEMBERS OF STAFF

 

Carrick Read has announced the appointment of four new members of staff, reflecting the  firm’s continuing growth despite the difficult financial problems being experienced by the economy.

 Sarah Thompson joins as assistant director of recoveries. Sarah has extensive experience of debt recovery procedures and of managing and developing specialist recovery teams. She will assist Mike with the progress of our plans to broaden the services provided by the recovery team.

 Helen Soares has been appointed as a legal recoveries executive and will join the court recovery team. Mike Sunley has also been appointed to the department as  administration assistant providing administration support to the team’s fee earners.

 Finally, Catherine Pearmain has joined the legal team as a Legal Assistant. She has obtained experience with law firms in London and Leeds before being appointed by Carrick Read to support the qualified lawyers team.

WIKE RIDGE GOLF CLUB'S FUTURE SAFEGUARDED

  The firm has recently acted on behalf of the Supervisors of the Company Voluntary Arrangement of Golfcentre Plc which traded the well known Wike Ridge golf centre in Leeds. The transaction safeguarded the business as a continuing golf course facility for its members and guests and ensured  the continuity of the jobs of its employees.

Carrick Read Insolvency has also recently acted on behalf of the purchasers of the assets of A & L Pressings Ltd of Lichfield which had entered administration. The transaction was completed within 2 days to ensure the continuation of the goodwill of the business and the position of employees.

CARRICK READ TEAM REPORT A BUSY SUMMER 2010

The Commercial and Insolvency Team at Carrick Read have been involved in some major transactions during the summer of 2010.

Completed deals include the sale by the Administrators of the assets and business of Cwmbran based plant and hire company Minex Plant Services , the purchase of the assets and automotive and aeronautical business of Worcester based Inca Tooling Limited from its appointed Administrators, the sale  by Administrators of the Skipton boutique hotel business run by Four@25 Limited and the purchase of the Trade Secret and Seconds Ahead retail business in South Wales which involved the transfer of over 40 trading outlets.

Carrick Read also acted on behalf of the joint adminstrators of Crosscastle Limited in the sale of its SPAR trading outlets in London.

 

Whilst transactional business is limited by restricted availability of funding the ability of Carrick Read to respond in a flexible and dynamic way has kept the whole team busy during  a period where many report a relatively quiet period of trading.

CARRICK READ TEAM ACT IN SUCCESSFUL MANAGEMENT BUY OUT OF TOWERSLEEP

Carrick Read Insolvency have acted for the management team in its successful purchase of the business and assets of Towersleep from Administrators appointed in February .

Towersleep manufactured quality retail and contract Mattress and Divan sets from its premises in Grimsby. The deal has enabled the business to continue sale of its products and also safeguarded the jobs of the majority of its employees.

The agreement was concluded as a matter of urgency to enable management to retain the goodwill of a business which has developed a reputation for quality in the provision of beds to the trade

CRi insolvency team report busy period for restructuring and recovery

The insolvency team at CRi have been extremely busy recently with a large number of transactions that have resulted in the saving of numerous businesses and the jobs of their employees.

Most notably ,the CRi team have acted for insolvency practioners in the administration sales of the businesses of -

Hub(Leeds) Ltd, the owner of the iconic Oracle bar and other licensed premises.

Opivote Ltd ,a developer of computer hardware and software

Acoustic Applications Ltd, an installer of temperature units and soundproofing

The CRi team have also acted for the purchasers/management team in the purchase of the following businesses from administrators -

Kershaw Fisher, a substantial wholesaler of meat products

2ndthoughts Ltd, a retailer of ladies clothing in England and Scotland - this deal saved more than 240 jobs at over 40 trading shops.

Labelstore Ltd a company stocking and supplying bar code labels.

Andrew Laycock, senior partner said " current levels of insolvency are keeping the team busy on both restructuring and recovery in addition to advising insolvency practioners on liquidations and bankruptcy, the team are always delighted when significant numbers of jobs are saved".

CARRICK READ APPOINT NEW DIRECTOR OF RECOVERIES

Mike Smith has been appointed as Director of  the Debt Recovery and Collections division. Mike has extensive experience of enforcement and insovency proceedings such as bankruptcy and winding up petitions in addition to detailed knowledge of the civil litigation process.

He will manage a recovery team providing market leading recovery services to public listed companies, professional firms ,local authoroties, financial institutions and SME's.

CRI TEAM ACT IN SUCCESSFUL PURCHASE OF CEEWRITE ENGINEERING

 
"-Carrick Read Insolvency have acted for the purchaser of Ceewrite Engineering from its administrators Matthew Wild and Geoffrey Carton-Kelly of Baker Tilly.
 
 
Ceewrite is a supplier of aeronautical supplies and had suffered financial difficulties as a result of the recession. The purchase of the business will enable continuity of supply to some of the largest businesses involved in the aeronautical industry both in the UK, Europe and the United States"

CARRICK READ TEAM ACT IN SUCCESSFUL PRE PACK DEAL TO BUY CHILTERN MILLS OUTLETS JUNE 2009

Carrick Read Insolvency has acted for the purchaser in a deal whereby Chiltern Mills, one of Yorkshire's most established textiles retailers, has been sold to its founder Merlin Treymaine. The pre-pack sale of the business, which specialises in discount linens, textiles and household items attracted three offers from seven interested parties. Mr Treymaine has acquired four outlets in Crossgates, Leeds and Redcar, Worksop and Sutton in Lincolnshire which employ a total of 65 staff.A pre-pack deal sometimes known as a "revolving door" administration involves a deal for the sale of a company's business or assets before it enters a formal insolvency process. Chiltern Mills received new investment from Mr Treymaine and bankers HBOS last year after its parent company Chiltern Mills Holdings went into administration.
